Following on from our recent feature on Christmas 1944 in a POW Camp, here is another item from Albert East’s time in Stalag IVb. The dancing partners listed are obviously all men. these are their original signatures on the card, but whether they actually danced with Albert East, ‘Ace’, is unknown. Some give their full names, rather formally, but others just write their Christian name or nickname, such as Jimmy who has put himself down for The Lambeth Walk.
From the Archive’s collection of Albert East’s papers and memorabilia, kindly donated by his son and daughter, Paul East and Joan Champion, in 2021.
