Tragedy at Forêt du Croc

In this new article by Sean Feast, he looks at one particular ‘Heavy Oboe’ operation, which was intended to bring pinpoint accuracy to a small target. On 20 July 1944, a daylight ‘Heavy Oboe’ was ordered for an attack on the V1 constructional works at Forêt du Croc. The official report on the raid states baldly: ‘Three Mosquitoes and 17 Lancasters took off but all were abortive and one Lancaster [is] missing.’
